The store is enticing, but if you encounter the Store Manager, you'd never enter it again. I was reading the review given before me, and I think I met the same person, Michelle today. She kept a stern look at her face, and refused to help on the matter I was looking for. There was a store employee who looked like she wanted to help but she said 'Unfortunately, she is the Store Manager and I cannot help you here'. I noticed the emphasis on 'Unfortunately', and thought this must be a routine scene at the store, and as such, the store employees must be exasperated as well.
I was confused with what she said so I just said "I'm sorry I didn't see it written on there." she nodded her head and said "it's written there." and walks away. She then walks over to my girlfriend and says "is that your boyfriend?" my girlfriend answered "yes" and Jackie replies with "wow, he's a mess." The embarrassment I felt at the store cannot be explained. I do not know what I did for her to treat me that way. I had NEVER encountered this lady ever and she had treated me this way. I love this store because of all the different gadgets they sell and the store has always been very intriguing to me. I've gotten many gifts for my family members from this store, but that does not mean I am entitled to being treated like a king when I walk in. No way shape or form do I expect any store to treat me with great customer service because I am not like that. I simply do not want to be disrespected and want to be treated fairly. I never write Google reviews or any sort of review, but I do believe this employee needs to be brought up to upper managements attention.
I wish I could give 0 stars for this brookstone but because Jadeh, the assistant store manager was very professional and sympathetic, that one start goes to her. Jackie, a sales associate at this store is VERY RUDE. Not only does she have ZERO customer service skills but she has ZERO communication skills as well. I went in with my girlfriend on a Friday evening and I sat down on the massage chair (like everyone does) and grabbed the remote. As soon as I sat down and grabbed the remote, Jackie (the sales associate) approached me and took the remote from my hand and said "do you not know how to read? it says ask for sales associate to operate". I was IMMEDIATELY thrown off and confused by the way she approached me. That was literally the first thing she said to me. No "hi how are you?" Or "what can I help you with?"
Overall, if someone wants to improve the store performance here, fire this Store Manager.
Brookstone may just go out of business due to their poor customer service. I ordered a candy machine from them for Christmas. I got it and the dang thing leaked out candy every time it was bumped. I took it to the store in Tyson's Corner for return which the website said was completely kosher. However, when I go to return it, the gentleman tells me that there is an AZ in the code which means I either ordered through Amazon or used Paypal to purchase it, in which case I have to ship it back. First of all, I DIDN'T order it through Amazon or pay for it through Paypal, so that is bogus (I verified this just in case I had temporary memory loss or something). Second of all, why should I have to ship it back in any case? Is it a Brookstone product? Then they should honor their return policy which clearly states their products ordered online are returnable to the store for a full refund. Now I get to pay double shipping! Thanks for nothing Brookstone! For a crappy product and poor customer service you get 1 star...I'd give you zero if I could!

The staff in-store are very friendly and attentive, but that doesn't make up for the marked decline in product quality. Most of their merchandise feels like it's made of the cheapest plastic they could find.
